Managed attribution is a discipline from the online research and threat intelligence world. Every request a browser makes carries attribution: the IP range it comes from, the fingerprint of the device, the timezone and language it announces, and the history it has accumulated. For everyday browsing that is harmless. For an investigator examining a phishing kit, a counterfeit storefront, or an adversary's infrastructure, it is a liability, because the subject of the research can read those signals too, and corporate IP ranges or a fingerprint shared by a whole analyst team are easy to spot. Managed attribution means deciding what those signals say instead of leaking them.
The category grew up inside government and enterprise security, where it is also called non-attributable browsing. Platforms such as Authentic8 Silo sell isolated research browsers to threat intelligence, brand protection, fraud, and trust and safety teams, typically at four-figure per-seat annual pricing. The common core is always the same: give each investigation its own browser environment, its own network egress, and its own coherent identity, so the subject sees a persona the analyst built rather than the organization behind it.
